Other interests

  • Culture, history and architecture in Istanbul: I enjoy strolling through Istanbul streets to discover melancholic memories embedded in the urban history. I also serve as an “unofficial” tourist guide for my friends 🙂
  • Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar: I love reading Tanpınar’s novels and thinking about the dialectical relationship between space and time. This helps me to understand the mental transition from the late Ottoman Empire to Republic era as well as other discontinuities in Turkish history. I organized a Tanpınar workshop in globale literature festival in Bremen together with Akın Emanuel Şipal
